Space for a growing family

28 January 2014

We were approached initially to look into the possibility of converting the small loft space of this bungalow into additional bedrooms for this growing family.  Our advice was that the existing loft space would create cramped rooms only suitable as a stopgap and unlikely to add sufficient value to the house.

Having investigated the possibility of moving house, our client decided to go for a larger project that incorporated three additional bedrooms and large family bathroom on the first floor.  On the ground floor an existing bedroom became a second reception and a utility added in space left over from the new staircase.  While the site showed promise, previous development nearby required a sensitive yet robust approach to achieving planning consent, for these we also look help from general engineering services to plan for the building and materials of the project.

What was a 3 bedroom bungalow, is now a 4 bedroom 2 reception house.  The extension not only transforms the appearance of the house but was completed for less than the total cost of moving to a larger property.  No wonder our client was pleased, saying “Thank you for the amazing job you did for us.  The house is perfect and in terms of space upstairs especially, is far better than we were expecting.”

Update for 2014

11 January 2014

You would think by the look of the blog we’ve been quiet of late, but the opposite is true which is why we haven’t had time to update the blog!

We have a number of new commissions including two apartment refurbishments and extension in Central London and extensions in Chandlers Ford, Ascot and Winchester.  We’ve also started work on a number of new London basement projects with one of our contractor clients. We’re also revisiting two completed projects to add loft rooms for growing families.

Work nearing completion include a couple of kitchens, a stunning master suite overlooking the Arbor in Winchester and our whole refurbishment in Knightsbridge which is due for completion in the spring.

Progress in Weeke

25 September 2013

Our project in Weeke is well underway in only a short time.

This project is for a garden room to provide a new kitchen and dining area.  The existing kitchen is reconfigured to provide a snug and the existing dining room a family area off the new kitchen.

With a monopitch roof and tall glazing to make the most of the view out toward mature trees, this project aims to add a significant amount of living space to this family home.
