Detached transformation

25 October 2012

Another project in Fulflood has completed.  The brief for this project was to extend by infilling the front of this L shaped house with a study and bedroom similar to other extensions of the same house type.  We analysed the existing space and by making some relatively simple internal changes extended to the rear to provide a study, utility room, bedroom, ensuite and a larger living area with improved access to the garden.  What is more impressive is that we did this within the original budget.

Our client is delighted with the extra space.  Having a larger kitchen has meant that the existing dining room can serve as a front room and the old living room as a family room off the kitchen.  We’re also very pleased that we were able to deliver so much more than the original brief.  While this is largely due to the special characteristics of this particular house, it does demonstrate that our approach ensures the best possible use of space.  In addition to this, we were able to retain the attractive front elevation, a feature lost to the other similar styled houses in the street.
