Completion in Highbridge

30 March 2012

The owners of this bungalow bought the property for its generous plot and semi-rural location.

Their brief was for a phased project which extended the kitchen to create a new family living space with a later phase to add an extra storey of accommodation.  The new kitchen wing is angled from the main dwelling to make the most of the view at the longest part of the garden and to provide easy supervision of the garden and play area.  Its vaulted ceiling and trussed beams creates a stunning space for family life and entertaining while being economical in terms of construction cost.

As ever, windows and rooflights were placed to make the most of sunlight and daylight without a risk of overheating.  Our clients are delighted with the end result.

We’ve invested in a great new DSLR to replace a 7 year old model.   Hopefully we’ll have better blog pictures coming soon.

Commencement in Monxton

9 March 2012

Another of our bungalow projects started this week.  This scheme replaces an existing conversion with a large extension providing 3 bedrooms and large family bathroom.  The extension sits neatly over the existing ground floor and improves the appearance of the house with a cottage style dormer roof.

The design was quite a challenge as it involved building over a previously extended house and changing the orientation of the roof to make the most of the space.  As ever, all of this was resolved while ensuring we had an efficient, buildable solution.
