Completion in Weeke

12 May 2015

This detached house in a tucked away location had a picturesque view just waiting to be exploited.

Our clients needed a larger kitchen and family room. We relocated the existing kitchen into the extension creating a playroom out of the old room. The existing unused dining room became a sitting area off of the new extension.

The upward sloping roof of the kitchen extension provides a dramatic space and makes the most of the view. The overhanging roof provides shelter and the ability to cook outdoors for more of the year and minimises overheating of the glass in summer.

Family room and kitchen in Winchester

9 May 2015

This semi-detached house had been updated and extended by its owners who had in mind the final stage of its transformation.

By extending the kitchen with a ‘side return’ extension and opening up to the current dining room, a large family and entertaining space was created out of a relatively modest space.

Our clients had thought long and hard about the configuration of the space and the kitchen design before contacting us. We were happy to work to their detailed brief, secure the various consents and co-ordinate the structural work to provide a neat and cohesive end result.

Space for a growing family

28 January 2014

We were approached initially to look into the possibility of converting the small loft space of this bungalow into additional bedrooms for this growing family.  Our advice was that the existing loft space would create cramped rooms only suitable as a stopgap and unlikely to add sufficient value to the house.

Having investigated the possibility of moving house, our client decided to go for a larger project that incorporated three additional bedrooms and large family bathroom on the first floor.  On the ground floor an existing bedroom became a second reception and a utility added in space left over from the new staircase.  While the site showed promise, previous development nearby required a sensitive yet robust approach to achieving planning consent, for these we also look help from general engineering services to plan for the building and materials of the project.

What was a 3 bedroom bungalow, is now a 4 bedroom 2 reception house.  The extension not only transforms the appearance of the house but was completed for less than the total cost of moving to a larger property.  No wonder our client was pleased, saying “Thank you for the amazing job you did for us.  The house is perfect and in terms of space upstairs especially, is far better than we were expecting.”
